This half-day workshop will discuss and illustrate a model for using the results of a Functional Behavioral Assessment to design function-based behavior support plans. This workshop will focus on the design of intervention phase of the assessment-intervention process answering the questions “OK, we know the problem. Now what do we do? What are the solutions?”
Ensuring Student Success: Mental Health Matters, Dr. Stephen Brock, NASP President
After examining statistics regarding the burden of mental illness on students, schools and society as a whole; this workshop will argue that schools and school-employed mental health professionals (such as school psychologists) are essential to the promotion of mental health. The session will then explore how school mental health promotion can be offered via a multitiered system of support (MTSS). Special attention will be given to universal promotion and mental health crisis intervention.
