Delaware School Psychologist of the Year (SPOTY)

Congratulations to our 2020-2021 School Psychologist of the Year:

Amanda Wells

Amanda works for the Capital School District. She serves diverse roles, integrating the ten domains of professional practice in the context of a team-based approach to holistically meet the needs of the whole child.

From her school: Amanda is definitely part of the “heart” of KCCS and we wouldn't be able to do what we do without her. As a master of collaboration, she consistently goes above and beyond to build teams to serve the needs of our students and to create groups that work together frequently and well. Amanda believes in the ideas and expertise of others and exemplifies "team” with how she walks, talks, acts, and carries herself.

Professional activities include: School Psychologist mentor, Internship supervisor, Professional Advocate, National Crisis Prevention Trainer, District Lead Psychologist, Chair of district's mental health committee, Threat Protocol and Debriefing subcommittee lead, School and district PD provider, Tier 2/3 team creator. She is KCCS’s Specialist of the Year.

In addition to being recognized for this honor among colleagues, the DE SPOTY will win a plaque and a $200 mini-grant to be used towards any educational projects they’re working on. The recipient will then have the option to complete an application for the National School Psychologist of the Year, to be announced at next year’s National Association of School Psychologists annual conference.

Congratulations to all SPOTY Nominees!

Amanda and all SPOTY nominees were honored at DASP's Membership Dinner.
